Government Cloud Computing

​The government cloud computing initiative provides government agencies with ready services of high efficiency, reliability and security with respect to infrastructure, platform, and software all as a service.

Description

Government cloud computing services should be:

    1. Self-Provisioned & Orchestrated.
    2. Within a fixed clearly defined catalog of services.
    3. Through a standard interface to request and use the service.
    4. Based on resource pooling.
    5. Rapid and elastic.
    6. With measurable performance against an SLA.
 

Objectives

The e-Government Second Action Plan includes an initiative under the infrastructure workstream for establishment of a government cloud computing platform in order to deliver shared services to government sectors through highly efficient, reliable and safe environment. The initiative scope includes empowring what is already done, and cloudizing the remaining services planned on the infrastructure, platform, and software tracks based on the measures established above.The following are the products and services targeted by this initiative:


Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) track includes:

    1. Government Secure Network (GSN).
    2. Disaster recovery.
    3. Hosting (permenant & temporary).
    4. Voice & Video over GSN.

Platform as a service (PaaS) track includes:

    1. National Enterprise Architecture (NEA).
    2. Government Service Bus (GSB).
    3. Executive Strategy Manager (ESM).
    4. Communication & notification (Tarasoul).
    5. Enterprise Program Management (EPM).
    6. Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    7. IT Service Management (ITSM).
    8. National Contract Center (Amer).

Software as a service (SaaS) track includes:

    1. E-Correspondence.
    2. E-Procurement.
    3. E-UnivApply.
    4. Government Resource Planning.
    5. Government Relations Management.
    6. Geospatial.
