The Internet Awareness Project (saleemnet)

Project Details: It came as the first-fruit of Internet Awareness projects which has been envisioned to develop skills and utilization of the National Plan for IT and Sciences to transform Saudi society into a Knowledge-based one. Such a project has been dedicated to all community segments through implementing a set of audiovisual programs and disseminating relevantly interactive publications and digital materials among each segment. The project is to be executed by Ministry of Culture and Information in partnership with King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology. It is aimed to produce a number of animated cartoons for adults and minors in addition to a set of publications about intact and proper usage of Internet and utilization of IT. It will also attempt to issue a magazine for children in this regard in addition to have parties for both adults and minors to be shown in the future, and finally all the project's outputs are to be published on Internet.

Qawafel e-Training Initiative

Project Details: Qawafel e-Training Initiative comes as a participation of Ministry of Communications & Information Technology within other initiatives undertaken by government and private sector to enable the segments of society in all parts of the country to deal with the Communications and Information Technology effectively to bridge the digital gap and raising awareness of ICT importance for all individuals, by focusing on the rural areas and low-income population and provision of basic and free training on using communications and information technology.

Initiative of Training Program for Media Sector

Project Details: In the era of information revolution, the media has played a crucial role in shaping people's understanding and building their aspirations on the basis of means of communication that brought the remote, expanded the dissemination and transformed the world into a small village.In the context of today globalization, the measuring of countries capacity linked to their media ability and the power of information networks, so the permanent linkage between the message and the mean becomes deeper where the producers and service providers sought to disseminate their values and definition of their products and delivery of information to their customers through the communications means which governed by a set of skills, practical and scientific programs.

Unified Admission to Colleges of Technology

Project Details: The Unified Admissions System was implemented on 21 Technical Colleges. This allows those who are wishing to attend one of these colleges to apply for admission, modify the application, print it and obtain the preliminary result electronically. The "Trainees Portal" provides information about the application steps, the colleges and programs available.

SIMIS (Social Insurance Management Information System)

Owner Organization: The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI)
Project Details: The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) has launched its new Social Insurance Management and Information System (SIMIS). It is considered a distinguished shift in the field of e-government applications in the Middle East. SIMIS is designed to serve all those who have interests in dealing with GOSI's scheme. SIMIS allows some government agencies to interact and exchange information with GOSI, in addition to enabling establishments and employers to perform all their business through it; they can register, exclude, change wages and submit payment of contributions of their workers. They can also review their establishment accounts with GOSI. Now, contributors can inquire about their records, know about the sequence of their services and check the correctness of their contributions with GOSI, along with other services that GOSI usually provides. SIMIS is considered as a virtual field office for GOSI; through it all business can be conducted as a regular field office. Hospitals may check the coverage of injured persons under the Occupational Hazards Branch to provide them with medical care services as fast as possible without the need to return to any field office. Moreover, SIMIS was developed to support auto-exchange of information (B2B) between establishments and GOSI to transfer data directly from GOSI's database to those establishments database and vice versa, and processing it without any human interference in the process.

Saudi Electronoc Data Interchange

Project Details: The Public Investments Fund of the Ministry of Finance currently executes the Saudi Electronic Data Interchange (SaudiEDI) Project with the aim of providing speed and transparency to the processing of business transactions. The focus here is on the international trade sector (import / export services e-Trade) in Saudi Arabia. The project enables electronic flow of information on the “manifest, delivery notes, import & export statements” between the concerned parties such as the Customs Department, The General Organization of Ports, cargo agents, customs clearance agents as well as others related to this process. E-Payments Systems Project (SADAD)

Project Details: SADAD Payment System (SADAD) was established by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) to be the national Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) service provider for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The core mandate for SADAD is to facilitate and streamline bill payment transactions of end consumers through all channels of the Kingdom’s Banks, and it was launched on October 3rd, 2004.

Services Portal Project, Ministry of Interior

Project Details: The National Information Center (NIC) of the Ministry of Interior is building a portal for services offered to individuals. The portal will enable such individuals to obtain information on these services, i.e., requirements, relevant e-forms, and the possibility of providing twenty services electronically. The project also includes setting up around 100 electronic kiosks.

Smart Card Project

Project Details: Representing modern technology, Smart Cards fast proliferated worldwide thanks to their multiple applications. They have high storage capacity and a processor that enables each card to execute somehow complex operations. Furthermore, their virtual lifespan is relatively long. The Ministry of Interior has taken a great interest in this technology since the first years of its coming into being. The ministry implemented the Smart Card Project which led to replacing the traditional Civil Affairs I.D. with a smart ID. In later stages, the project aims at integrating into one card some of the other government cards such as the driving license and family card. There is also the electronic passport application which is considered a state-of-the-art technology solution worldwide.
